2011 Employer Survey Responses

Employer Responses

The QS Global Employer Survey has seen a dramatic increase in response in 2011 from slightly over 5,000 in 2010 to almost 17,000 in 2011. Growth has been seen worldwide but nowhere more profoundly than in Latin America, where a campaign conducted in Spanish met with great success. Responses are closely scrutinized and weighted to eliminate biases that may result from disproportionate response levels.

Industry Sector

The response to the Employer Survey by Industry Sector is remarkably consistent with last year – Consulting sees a slight increase and Finacial Services a slight decline but overall there is little movement across this breakdown – perhaps surprising given a dramatic increase in overall response.

Country / Region

Job Classification / Seniority

Up until this year, whilst employer respondents have been asked to provide a Job Title, the survey has not offered a finite selection of choices to make the analysis straightforward. With the survey presented in a dozen languages the variety of synonyms for similar roles is significant. This year we have taking the time to run a matching exercise to give us an idea of the aggregate level of seniority amongst employer responses. In future a list will be provided so that over time we can reduce the number of “Other” responses in the below table.

CEO / President / Managing Director 3.7%
