In order to qualify for inclusion in each of the QS World University Rankings® by Subject universities must offer a course or the option to specialize in the discipline, and meet the discipline specific threshold for papers published.
There are additional specifications for the following subjects:
Chinese medicine is not considered. The US schools should have a medical school which qualifies and trains future medical doctors. Other countries also qualify only when they have a faculty, a school or a department of medicine which contributes directly to qualifying and training future medical doctors.
Pharmacy & Pharmacology
Due to the theoretical nature of pharmacology, research degrees or other degrees which do not necessarily train candidates as future pharmacists who will actually practise pharmacy were considered
Agriculture and Forestry
Undergraduate or postgraduate degree programmes in, but not limited to, the (combination of) following disciplines: Agriculture, Agricultural science, Forestry, Plant science, Botany, Horticulture, Food Science& Nutrition, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science were included
